Into The Void: Episode 13 - "Afterlife"

In this latest episode of Into The Void, I talk with American NY-based metalcore band Aphasia about "Afterlife", new music, their upcoming EP, how their band came about, and more! Step Into The Void.

American metalcore band Aphasia was established in Rochester, New York, in 2015. The band has created a blend of intricate riffs, powerful vocals, and ambient sounds to give listeners a tumultuous and emotional listening experience. In their debut album, "Rebirth," which is a series of tales of adversity and grief, Aphasia have established their sound.

“This song was written from a place of hurt about poor family relationships and upbringing. The lyrical content touches on subjects of anger, abandonment, and resentment.”

Traveling the east coast and sharing the stage with national groups such as Asking Alexandria, For The Fallen Dreams, We Came as Romans, and many more, the band has performed at festivals and tours across the country, including The All Stars Tour and Souled Out Festival.

Listeners have hungered for more as a result of the band's blend of breakdowns and melodic cadence, wrapped in abrasive, passionate lyrics. The widely anticipated follow-up single to the band's debut album, Rebirth, 'Afterlife,' was written following the tragic death of a close friend of one of the members. The lyrical material discusses dealing with the trauma of losing someone dear to you when it seems like the world is collapsing and the shock that death brings.

Since the time of this podcast, the Progressive Metalcore band has released a brutal new song called “Absent.”

“This song was written from a place of hurt about poor family relationships and upbringing. The lyrical content touches on subjects of anger, abandonment, and resentment.”
